Melvin to Yost: One final humiliation
September 29, 2008ESPN’s BottomLine just ran this bit of MLB news:
Brewers GM Doug Melvin sends e-mail to fired manager Ned Yost to show appreciation for getting Brewers “in position” to make playoffs
Don’t get me wrong; I appreciated every bit of that item. I just wonder about the rationale of the BottomLine editor for thinking that was newsworthy.
Is that relevant to the national audience? Keeping Ned’s name in the news as he shops for other jobs? Or is it for the same reason I would’ve run it: to say, “Can you believe this damn guy? Fires his manager, rubs it in, then tells the media about it?”
Bravo, Melvin. And good call, ESPN.
