Jenkins almost as effective as man with broken leg

Tom Haudricourt says this in his article about Jenkins today:

As difficult as it might be to believe, Jenkins did not rate among either Class A or Class B free agents at his position in the National League when player rankings were calculated for this winter.

Actually, no. That is not difficult to believe. Here’s the highlight:

Oddly enough, the cutoff was the player ranked ahead of him, Washington first baseman Nick Johnson, who missed the entire 2007 season with a broken leg.
